RUSH

RUSH children having funRUSH is a Kenyan charity based in Kakamega that is looking to transform a community. It runs a well respected school and helps with some 200 orphans. It provides help in training people to have their own trade as well as helping to raise awareness regarding AIDS etc. It regularly provides free medical treatment.

Springfield has been priviliged to be involved over the past few years in a number of ways to help this community:

Rush Water pumpOur first project was to help them by providing a pump to provide clean water

We then discovered that there nursery was on a spearate site and costing them monies that they could ill-afford to rent. We then looked at providing the resources to build a nursery.

On top of these a variety of other projects by some of our cells who support RUSH have occurred.

One Cell group put on a fund-raising dinner and raised enough money to buy 500 chicks which not only provide eggs for the school but any excess are sold to provide resources for the school.

Another member of the church had the idea to help  their football team by sending out some kit from this country (flown out very kindly by a pilot who is a member of the church!).

A group of us are very much looking forward to going out for a couple of weeks in February 2011 in order to help them and to encourage them (and to be encouraged ourselves).
