Resources to help you grow
Growing in our faith requires help and effort. The idea of this page is to direct you to some resources to help you grow in faith. Over time we will be adding to this page links to resources that we hope and pray will help you grow in your walk with Jesus.
Lectio Divina is an ancient way of studying and mulling over the scriptures. The Bible Society produce free downloads for you to use. Well worth getting to help you bring alive the bible. It includes a passage from the bible, a meditation, prayer and contemplation. It is a way of slowing becoming aware of God and being open to His speaking into your life.
Reading the bible in a year is a great way of getting to know the whole bible. There are a large variety of plans out on the internet. I rather like the following one from oneyearbibleonline. It gives you a reading from the psalms (the song book of the bible), an Old Testament reading, a New Testament reading and a reading from Proverbs (not sure why the last is so prominent - maybe a cultural thing).
An alternative plan (which gives a greater emphasis on the New Testament) is to read a psalm a day, 2 chapters of the Old Testament, 1 chapter of the Gospels and 1 chapter of the rest of the New Testament. This ensures that a) if you miss a day (or 3!) you can carry on from where you left off, b) that you get to read all the bits you would usually miss out, c) gives a greater emphasis to the New Testament and d) gives you sizeable chunks to read and think about.
